First place ($1000 US dollars) – Gu Naiqing (Donghua)
This was a very impressive project from the initial consumer boards submitted at stage
one through to the finished design stage of the project. Gu demonstrated a strong
understanding of the ellesse brand and researched the relevant consumer groups in a lot
of detail. The design boards combined high quality presentation visuals, good attention
to detail and beautiful use of colour. The finished designs were relevant to the ellesse
brand as well as the target consumer that had been outlined by LCF. Gu delivered a
professional project that delivered on all aspects of the brief.
Second place ($500 US dollars) – Kornelia Gorzkowicz (LCF)
We were impressed by the diversity of Kornelia’s work-delivering a consumer board based
on a UK Grime consumer then designing a more sophisticated collection of pure and simple
designs that reflected the target Asian consumer. The project demonstrated that Kornelia
understood all aspects of the Asia consumer and didn’t rely on designing product that
related to her own personal tastes or to her own UK consumer. The visuals used in the
design project were well researched and communicated her product vision very well.
Third place ($250 US dollars) – Anqi Wang (LCF)
Anqi delivered a design project that fused performance sport and street style reflecting
that ellesse brand DNA. Anqi’s attention to detail and understanding of body movement
resulted in designs that were both functional yet fashion forward. A lot of work went
into the design and development of the collection including some inspirational print
work. The finished collection represented the Asian consumer quite well however the use
of a stronger colour palette, as outlined in the Asian consumer board, would have made
the project even stronger.
Acknowledgement for Marcus Richardson (LCF):
We would like to also acknowledge the consumer and design work that was submitted by
Marcus Richardson. We loved Marcus’s style of work (both the consumer boards and the
design elements) and it represented the ellesse brand very well. However even though his
product collection was strong, we felt it had been inspired by and reflected Marcus’s
own initial consumer boards rather than following any consumer/mood boards sub-mitted by
the Donghua students and therefore didn’t fully deliver on the brief and narrowly
missed out on one of the top three prizes.
